Panic attacks and disorder are refereed to a period of acute discomfort and intense fear. If you are suffering from this disorder, you are not a stand alone case. Rather, studies have found that nearly 5% of world’s human population has suffered from this disorder in some phase of their life.

Phobias, lack of vitamin B, improper diet, hereditary factors, stress and personal losses cause this disorder in people.

The common panic attack symptoms are heart palpatations, excessive sweating, choking, chest pain, discomfort, nausea, abdominal stress and respiratory problems.

However, these panic attacks symptoms in some cases might be confusing. The reason behind the confusion is the commonality of symptoms between panic attack, heart attack, respiratory problems and asthma. Hence, when you suffer from these symptoms it is advisable to call a doctor. The physician will analyze the symptoms properly and make sure that they are in fact a panic attack and not something else.

Panic disorder is quite frightening and often a visit to the doctor to rule out any other reason for the symptoms, can be quite good to put your mind at ease. Once you know that your symptoms were the result of a panic attack then you can relax and not worry that there could be something more serious wrong.

Although it is hard to relax after experiencing a panic attack as there is often an overwhelming fear of having another attack. This fear is often what causes more attacks which can then lead to a full panic disorder.

If you have suffered from a panic attack or if you suffer from them on a regular basis then you should seek help, after all this condition is curable with the right help.

To understand Panic Disorder Symptoms, we must first understand the term “Panic Attacks.” Panic attacks involve overpowering anxiety and horror. Dizziness, breathing problems and a racing heart are common panic attack symptoms. However, it is treatable and the sooner the better.

Panic Disorder Symptoms are a result of recurring panic attacks followed by significant behavioural changes and continuous fear over other such attacks. Panic disorder symptoms are usually related to alcoholism, depression and feelings of fear. Sometimes a single panic attack or repeated panic attacks may emotionally drain a person’s mind leading to panic disorder symptoms.

They are:

Persistent attack – Continual and unpredictable panic attacks

Tension – Perpetual worry or concern about another attack

Changes in behaviour – Indifferent or significant behavioural changes such as avoiding places where the person has experienced a previous panic attack

Physical symptoms - Physical symptoms include tremendous sweating and pounding heart along with nervousness and extreme fear

Avoiding specific places – People with panic disorder symptoms tend to avoid places where they have experienced a panic attack before because of fear of having another one

Anticipatory anxiety – Some people expect to have another panic attack and are thus, living in fear

Agoraphobia – People begin to avoid specific places or areas because of the belief that it may lead to another panic attack or where a previous attack has taken place. Sometimes, the affected persons tend to avoid public gatherings or crowds because of fear.

Cognitive behavioural therapy and medication are used for the treatment of Panic Disorder.

Panic attacks are one of the most devastating and less understood problems faced by numerous people today. They are the cause of a lot of spoilt relations, frustration and depression. Panic attacks initially trigger from an apprehensive feeling which grows with time resulting in an attack of panic. It is really intense and happens suddenly without any particular reason. Once such an attack is experienced it keeps coming back. The attacks range from milder attacks like anxiety attacks to graver ones like panic attacks that have physical symptoms as well. To control, deal with and get rid of such attacks in the early stages one must take notice of the early symptoms. A few such panic attacks symptoms are:

Feeling dizzy and hot

Heavy Perspiration

Nauseated feeling

Pain in the chest with an increased heart rate

Breath shortness

Hyperventilation on its full scale

Trembling and shaking

Feeling cold and choked

When four or more of these symptoms are noticed it is considered to be a full – fledged panic attack and with less than four panic attacks symptoms it is considered a more limited sort of an attack which can be dealt with easily. These attacks usually last for ten minutes and sometimes even less. But, it seems like ages for the sufferer making him/her exhausted mentally and drained of all energy physically. The symptoms of a severe attack are continuous range of attacks with one symptom not completely diminishing before the next attack begins.

Panic attacks are treatable and can be cured. It isn’t always easy but it is definitely possible to live a panic free life.

Have you ever had a panic attack? Have you ever felt so scared and panicky but had no idea why?

Panic or anxiety attacks are suffered by a large number of the population and they are very, very scary. Especially the first one, when you have no idea it is coming and no idea what is happening to you.

What are the symptoms of panic attack?

Symptoms include:

A racing heart accompanied with an anxious feeling

General anxiety about every day life

Scary thoughts and feeling like you’re losing control

Dizziness and light headed

Sweating, shaky and even weak

Feelings of unreality and perhaps even disorientated

Feeling like you just want to run away

Can’t relax, feel like you’re ‘on the edge’

Sometimes you feel depressed and anxious for a couple of days leading up to a full blown panic attack and then after the attack you can feel very tired and have a general ‘feeling down’ feeling for a few days following.

When you have a panic attack your body thinks something is happening that it needs to fight against, so you have an adrenalin rush as your body prepares itself for battle. Then however, there is no battle and all that adrenalin is left in your body making you tense. Your body can also feel very tired and run down after the adrenalin rush.

Your mind can’t relax because you are constantly thinking about the attack and absolutely terrified of it happening again.

If you experience panic attacks like these quite often it can really effect your life. You can spend your life scared and depressed.

An important point to remember is that 95% of what people worry about doesn’t happen. When suffering from panic attacks it can be very easy to worry. You worry about the panic attack itself. You worry about the physical symptoms you are having, in fact you tend to worry about everything. You spend every waking minute worrying. It can be very helpful to keep that thought in mind that 95% of what people worry about never happens, keep repeating this to yourself can often ease your worry a little.

Try to remain positive and try to distract your mind by keeping busy. Seek treatment for your panic attacks
