Have you been searching for a panic attacks treatment?

You are not alone, there around thousands of sufferers world wide searching for a good treatment to overcome this scary problem.

Some treatments might work for one person but not for another so unfortunately it could be a matter of trial and error until you find the treatment that works for you.

Let’s take a closer look at some treatments available.

1. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: This therapy is probably the most successful treatment for panic attacks. Cognitive behavioral therapy will teach you how to gain control over your body and mind and rethink the way your mind reacts to certain situations. This isn’t a miracle cure and may take a little time to relearn a new way of thinking, but it is the most successful and keeping panic attacks away permanently.

2. Relaxation Therapy: Finding ways to relax both your mind and body will go a long way toward treating your panic attacks. Panic attacks usually occur in a person that is under a lot of stress, anxiety or fear and the body responds, although in an over reactive way, it responds accordingly. By learning to relax you can reduce the severity of symptoms and the frequency of attacks.

3. Medications: Medications such as antidepressants can help reduce the symptoms of panic attacks and also the frequency in which they occur. However, medication will only mask the symptoms and will not retrain your mind to learn how to deal with things differently. As such there is a good chance that if you stop taking the medication your panic attacks can return at full strength. Medications can work well by reducing symptoms and frequency giving you a chance to work at some cognitive behavior therapy and have your symptoms reduced while you are learning a new way of thinking.

Whatever treatment you decide to use I wish you luck and don’t give up if one doesn’t work, just move on and try something different. You need to be determined to beat this disorder and if you are then you will succeed.

When a person experiences a panic attack they are often left with more questions that answers.

What just happened?

Was I having a heart attack?

Why did that happen?

What if it happens again?

Some of the symptoms of panic attack can mimic those of a heart attack and so it can be extremely frightening when you experience it for the first time and think that you are actually having a heart attack.

The fealing of dread that is often experienced during a panic attacks adds to that thought of something fateful occuring and that you feel like you are going to die.

So how do you know if you are having a panic attack?

The formidable symptoms of a panic attack come from our body’s built-in ‘flight or fight response system’.

A few workings of a human body’s ‘flight or fight response system’ are:

* Heart beat starts to increase manifold and pump excess of blood into our limbs so that we intend to fight or run;

* The flow of more blood into our limbs which causes less oxygen to reach our brains, makes available less blood to reach the stomach – one immediately feels dizziness and “butterflies” in the stomach;

* Sudden gushing of blood through major muscle groups makes the toes and fingers to have a feeling of tingling sensation;

* The feeling of suffocation in the lungs causes one to breathe faster to get increased amount of oxygen into the blood and the resultant blood rushing through the muscles during flight or fight makes one to feel having hyperventilating;

* Other symptoms are like having sweating, chillness of body, having hot flashes;

It can be hard to distinguish at first whether you are having a heart attack or a panic attack and so it is best to play it safe and seek medical help. Once a person has suffered from a panic attack or two then they will recognise the symptoms although it doesn’t really make it any less scary.

Even if you are just having a panic attack and not a heart attack, it is still important to seek help so that you don’t develop a full panic disorder. If you do already have a panic disorder it isn’t too late to seek help and overcome your disorder.

Life should be happy and not filled with fear so take action and seek help today.

Panic attacks are very scary and symptoms can include difficulty breathing, rapid heartbeat, intense fear and discomfort. These episodes can last for a couple of minutes in some cases and in other cases can last for hours.

The really sad thing about this disorder is that it can even affect our children. When suffering panic attacks children can have very similar symptoms and with their young minds you can imagine it would be very scary for them.

As adults we often think that childhood is the best time of our lives and children really have things easy and have nothing to be stressed or depressed about. But unfortunately these days there seems to be more and more children that are being diagnosed with disorders such as depression, anxiety and panic disorder.

Fortunately if you do recognise symptoms of panic attacks in your child then you can seek treatment to help them overcome the disorder. You may need to observe your childs day to day behavior for a while to try and establish what may be causing your childs problems. You might need to observe to see whether there is one particular stressful situation that sets of a panic attack, or whether you child is under a lot of stress in general that has led to their disorder.

To help your child overcome panic attacks here are a few tips:

1. Try to establish the cause and then try to eliminate or deal with that cause in a better way.

2. Try to reduce stress in your childs life and make more happy moments.

3. If there has been an incident in your child’s life that has caused the panic attacks, they may need to seek counselling regarding the incident.

4. If there is an ongoing issue that maybe causing your child’s panic attacks then you can try and deal with that issue or remove your child from the situation permanently.

5. Cognitive behavior therapy is helpful for both children and adults suffering panic attacks as it helps to retrain the way that the mind perceives a situation.

These are just a few tips to help with panic attacks in children. Remember too that they are just kids and don’t need to be put under a lot of stress. If your child is under too much stress or pressure then you may need to make some adjustments to their life to reduce the stress.

Panic attacks are not a rare thing, in fact they are quite common with around five percent of the global population suffering from them at some point in their life. The symptoms can be very scary and can actually cause you to feel like you are going to die. Chest pain, shivering, difficulty breathing and a feeling of dread are some of the more nasty and common symptoms of panic attacks.

Finding your panic attacks causes will win half the battle for you in overcoming this disorder.

There are a number of different things that can cause panic attack disorder and sometimes it might just occur out of the blue. Here are a few of the possible causes of this disorder.

Excess Stress – stress is normal and everyone will have some stress in their life, but if your life is going through a time of great stress and emotional issues then this can lead to panic disorder. A healthy person, both physically and mentally, can usually deal with stress quite well and will be less prone to developing an anxiety or panic disorder.

Anxiety Disorder – as with stress, anxiety is also part of life and everyone will be anxious at some point. People that are overly anxious all the time are most likely suffering from anxiety disorder. When a person suffers from anxiety disorder they are very emotionally drained and the constant feeling of anxiety and dread can lead to panic attacks.

Phobias – if a person has a phobia to a certain situation or thing, then that fear can cause a panic attack and if that person continues to have that phobia then there is a good chance that they will continue to suffer panic attacks when faced with that particular situation or thing that they fear.

Diet – a healthy diet is great for most health related issues and mental health issues are no exception. A good, healthy diet is always going to benefit any disorder as it will give you energy and help you to feel good, reducing stress and anxiety.

Personal Loss – a stressful time in anyone’s life is at the loss of a loved one, whether it is the death of a loved one or just a permanent separation. This feeling of loss and stress that accompanies it can lead to a negative mental state which can lead to panic disorder.

The good news is that panic attacks are curable and finding the cause is a big step to recovery. Once you know your panic attacks causes then you can work with that and try to resolve the issue or fears that may be leading to your disorder.

Finding The Right Panic Attacks Cure

Panic attacks can be defined as are very sudden and discrete period of intense discomfort and dense fear. This disorder can last for a couple of minutes to hours. ; Hundreds and thousands of sufferers around the world have started searching the necessary treatment to overcome this dangerous problem. Studies have revealed that an alarming number of people (near 5% of global population) are fighting with this problem. Genetic problems, inheritance, lower calorie and inferior diet intake, inadequate vitamin E in the body, mental stress and personal losses can all contribute to the cause of this disorder.

Panic attacks and disorders are curable and the right panic attacks cure can get you on the road to recovery. Common symptoms of these attacks are sweating, respiratory and breathing problems, trembling, dizzy feeling, nausea, chest pain, discomfort etc. Many sufferers actually think that they are having a heart attack the first time they experience a panic episode and as the symptoms can feel similar it is important to get medical help just to be safe.

Different people will respond differently to treatments and sometimes it can be a matter of trial and error before you find what works for you. Treatments can include anti-depressant medication, cognitive behavior therapy or natural medicines. Often a combination of treatments can work best.

As this can be an embarrassing illness many sufferers will just keep on putting up with the attacks because they are embarrassed to seek help. The good news is that there are treatments that you can do from your own home, these can often be successful so if you are too embarrassed to visit your doctor then you might want to try a home treatment.

Reducing stress and anxiety in your life can also help lessen the severity and occurences of panic attacks, but the best treatment is some kind of cognitive behavior therapy where you can learn to change the way that your mind perceives these attacks. The mind is a very powerful tool and if you can get it working in your favour you will be a long way on your road to recovery.

Panic Attacks Anxiety Disorder – what is it and are panic attacks and anxiety even the same thing?

Panic attacks and anxiety are actually two separate issues but can often be related. It is quite common for a person that suffers from anxiety disorder can go on to develop panic attacks and a panic disorder.

Let’s take a closer look at anxiety disorder vs panic disorder.

Anxiety Disorder

Everyone will suffer from anxiety at some point in their life and this is a perfectly normal reaction to certain situations. For example, let’s say I have to give a speech in front of 100 people tomorrow, then today I might be feeling anxious about giving that speech. If I’m not very comfortable with public speaking then this is a situation that could cause me quite a bit of anxiety. And that’s ok, that is perfectly normal.

However, if you are feeling anxious for no particular reason and you tend to feel anxious all the time, then this is when it becomes a problem. To have that anxiety on a constant basis for no reason then you are likely suffering from anxiety disorder. When suffering from anxiety disorder you may find yourself worrying about everything, even things that are probably not even likely to happen.

Panic Disorder

As with anxiety, everyone will also suffer from panic at some point in their life. Let’s look at an example of panic, I walk out my front door and a huge spider drops down and lands on my top – my reaction: panic. I hate spiders and especially big ones so if one is sitting on my top I am sure I would panic (in fact I’ve been in this situation and yes I did panic).

This is perfectly normal if faced with a scary or fearful situation the normal human response is to panic.

Panic disorder however is if you are panicking regularly over situations that really don’t require a panic response. Panic disorder usually begins with a panic attack and once a person experiences one panic attack then the fear of having another is enough to bring another attack on. So then you may have recurring attacks and a full panic disorder. An example of panic disorder could be when a person is too frightened to even walk into a supermarket for fear of having a panic attack while they are in there and often this fear will drive them to have an attack when they are in the supermarket.

Conclusion

Panic attack anxiety disorder is really a mixture of two different disorders – panic disorder and anxiety disorder. You may suffer from just one of these disorders or perhaps you suffer from both. The good news is that these disorders can be treated and often quite successfully. There is no reason to live your life in fear and anxiety, seek treatment and get rid of your disorder and go back to living a happy life.

Panic attacks involve overpowering anxiety and horror. Dizziness, breathing problems and a racing heart are common panic attack symptoms. However, it is treatable and therefore, may be cured with regular and effective treatment.

Panic attacks can be cured or at least controlled through the use of proper medication, psychotherapies such as cognitive behavioural therapy and exposure therapy and meditation or other relaxation therapies. The use of an antidepressant is a common panic attacks cure. The other is professional counselling.

Some natural and simple methods of curing panic attacks are:-

Getting sufficient sleep by sleeping at an appropriate time to prevent stress,

Panic attacks causes can vary and they do not necessarily have to stem from one big dramatic experience in a persons life. In todays world there seems to be so much stress and tension which exists in many different cultures and as a result there seems to be a large number of people that suffer from panic disorder.

Some of the most common causes of panic attacks are phobias, such as fear of public speaking, fear of large crowds, fear of driving or having an accident while driving. Sometimes this fear can be so strong and each time you come across the situation your fear escalates and can eventually lead to a full blown panic attack. Once that first panic attack occurs then there is a good chance that your fear of those situations increases as you now have the added fear of having another panic attack. This in itself is enough to bring on another panic attack when you again face your phobia.

Aside from phobias another common cause of panic attacks are a life experience that is traumatic, such as a death of a family member, loss of job, major surgery or illness or even a marriage breakdown. These can put your mind and life in such a negative place that can lead to panic disorder. These experiences can bring on fears relating to the experience and often these thoughts are hard to get out of your head.

Other causes can be an underlying mental disorder like depression. It isn’t uncommon for depression sufferers to also suffer from panic disorder. When you are suffering from depression you are in a dark place and your mind is sad and often thinking negatively. You feel like you will never get out of the state that you are in and can offer begin to fear your depression and being in that state forever.

The mind is a tricky thing and can sometimes be very irrational. It is often hard to control the way your mind works and once it starts to think along the ‘fear’ path it is hard to reverse that and get rid of those fears. Panic attacks are the same that once you have them your mind will keep thinking of them and fearing them and this leads to more attacks.

If left untreated, panic attacks can make life extremely difficult and they can control your life to the extent that some sufferers are too afraid to leave their homes. Although it is hard to change the way your mind thinks, it isn’t impossible and you need to make the decision to beat your panic disorder and start taking steps in retraining the way that you think.

Panic attacks causes are varied and whatever your cause, just remember that you can overcome this disorder, but you need to make the choice and you need to take action to do so.

Panic Away can teach you some simple techniques that can help to retrain your mind and get rid of panic attacks for good.

Panic attacks are very sudden, discrete periods of intense anxiety, mounting physiological arousal, fear, stomach problems and discomfort that are associated with a variety of somatic and cognitive symptoms. The onset of these episodes is typically abrupt, and may have no obvious triggers.

What exactly is a panic attack? Well here is the definition from Wikipedia…..

Panic attacks are very sudden, discrete periods of intense anxiety, mounting physiological arousal, fear, stomach problems and discomfort that are associated with a variety of somatic and cognitive symptoms. The onset of these episodes is typically abrupt, and may have no obvious triggers.

Although these episodes may appear to be random, they are a subset of an evolutionary response commonly referred to as fight or flight that occur out of context. This response floods the body with hormones, particularly epinephrine (adrenaline), that aid it in defending against harm. Experiencing a panic attack is said to be one of the most intensely frightening, upsetting and uncomfortable experiences of a person’s life.

According to the American Psychological Association, the symptoms of a panic attack commonly last approximately thirty minutes. However, panic attacks can be as short as 15 seconds, while sometimes panic attacks may form a cyclic series of episodes, lasting for an extended period, sometimes hours. Often those afflicted will experience significant anticipatory anxiety and limited symptom attacks in between attacks, in situations where attacks have previously occurred.

Panic attacks are commonly linked to agoraphobia and the fear of not being able to escape a bad situation. Many who experience panic attacks feel trapped and unable to free themselves.

The effects of a panic attack vary from person to person. Some, notably first-time sufferers, may call for emergency services. Many who experience a panic attack, mostly for the first time, fear they are having a heart attack or a nervous breakdown.

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panic_attack

So there it is – the wikipedia definition of a panic attack. Of course as stated, attacks will vary from person to person so just because you don’t have one or two symptoms that other people have, doesn’t mean anything. Different people will experience different symptoms and also the length and severity of each attack will vary from person to person.

The panic response is actually the body’s response of protection. You naturally go into this response in reaction to a dangerous situation and your body is getting you prepared to take action. The panic response is perfectly normal and everyone does it.

It is when it happens all the time and at irrational times that it becomes a problem and is then classified as a panic disorder.
