Panic Attacks Treatment – How To Get Relief From Panic Attacks
Panic disorder comes with some pretty awful symptoms but thankfully it can be beaten. There are medications available that can help to deal with the actual symptoms themselves, but that doesn’t get rid of the disorder altogether. Here is where they problem lies as unless you are happy taking medication for the rest of your life, then you will want to find a panic attacks treatment that will put a stop to this disorder completely.
If you rely completely on medication then if you ever decide to stop the medication then there is a good chance the panic attacks will return. The side effects of some of these medications aren’t all that nice either and I’m sure you wouldn’t want to live with those side effects forever if there were another option. I am not saying not to use medication, because it really can help, but I am saying to use it as a temporary relief to the symptoms of panic disorder, but not as a long term solution.
Your goal needs to be to get rid of your panic attacks completely, so that once you start reducing your medication dose and then stopping it altogether, those attacks wont return. So here are a few treatments that might help you to overcome your panic disorder.
1. Make sure that you take time out and have some time for yourself. This can be doing absotely anything as long as it’s something that you enjoy and somthing that makes you happy. It can be some relaxation time, go and get a massage, or perhaps take up a new sport or a craft or hobbie, or it could be something as simple as going for a walk or taking a bath. Whatever it is that you decide to do, just make sure it is something for ‘you’.
2. Put time aside for ‘family time’. Too many families get so wrapped up in the stresses of life that they forget about the fun times. Even if it is once a week where you get together and go out somewhere, or play a board game, or just something fun that you can do together as a family. Don’t think that you don’t have time for it, make the time, you’ll be surprised at how something as simple as this can make a big difference in your life.
3. Eat a healthy diet. Although panic attacks are a result of the mind thinking irrationally and putting your body into a state of panic at unnecessary times, a good diet will help both your mind and body to function better. It will also make you feel better in general which can go a long way to helping with panic disorder.
4. Exercise. Even if it is just 10 minutes walking each day, a little bit of exercise will make you feel better and help to deal with panic and anxiety.
5. Avoid triggers. If there is a specific situation that you know triggers your panic attacks then try to avoid that situation if possible. It isn’t always possible to avoid your triggers and if they are unavoidable then you might need to try some techniques that will change the way your mind percieves that trigger.
6. Deal with your fears. Try some techniques that will help you to retrain your mind and deal with your fears in a more rational way. Fear plays a huge role in panic disorder and the fear of a panic attack itself brings on more fear, increasing the risk of another attack.
Confronting your fears is often a good way to overcome them and by doing this combined with some useful techniques is a great panic attacks treatment that can stop your attacks altogether.
